Any Photography Experts Here?

I have a medium priced camera that I have had for several years, but used only for two other rolls of film, so I can't very well get my money back. One of the other rolls was ruined because the camera froze.

My latest roll had only one or two pictures left when the camera motor, flash, everything quit. I had almost a whole roll of Precious and Blueberry pictures, and load of pictures of my flowers. We couldn't get the film to advance, or even get it out, so it was unrolled by a guest, in hopes that this would not happen again. However, I tried to snap it, and it wouldn't even snap or flash.

Is the camera able to be fixed, or is it done for? I'm really upset, because I have a scanner now, and was going to post my kitties' pictures. Say it will be ok, please? It's a Vivitar.with a closeup and panoramic features.

Oh, we tried new batteries. That didn't do any good.

If the camera has mechanics and not just electronics it might be possible to leave to a camera service to have it fixed. But the best bet is to contact the makers service and ask what it would cost to fix it.

Thanks. I'll try that. I don't know what's going on inside. I assumed it was a mechanical action powered by the batteries. I'm not very knowledgable about cameras, but I know you are. Thanks, Petra.

Jeanie a lot of times the mechanical parts will freeze up due to little or no use over long periods of time. Many times the fix is just taking the camera apart and getting it cleaned by a qualified tech. Take it to a camera shop and see what they say. After they evaluate it you can have them call you with a price before they procede. If it just needs to be cleaned it shouldn't be to expensive.

Thanks, BC! I hope cleaning works. Either way, thanks for the suggestion. You now have one "get out of the corner free" card. *
