Faces of the Heart

I just had to show this program off....

I work really heavily with a non-profit arts organization in my community dedicated to bringing art to children. The pictures below are of a program I was in charge of called "Faces of the Heart". These pillows were created by high schools students and then were donated to a senior care facility in our town. I love to show pictures of it because i'm stunned at how much time the students put into something that they had to give away.

Recently the seniors were interviewed about the pillows and one said that when she hugs it she can feel love.

Here is some of them on display in the organizations art shop!

Hope you enjoy!

I'm getting ready to organize it again for another senior facility, anyone know of any large chain stores that give donations to non-profit groups?

What a fantastic idea
I love to see projects that enrich the lives of senior people. So much seems ot be done for children and animals, and older people are often neglected. At least that's how it seems here.
You have directed the young people's creativity into something so positive - well done!

Ellybelly, that sounds like fascinating work you do with the seniors. I bet they really look forward to your visits.
It's great that you are giving them something mentally stimulating. I used to be with a group that did reviews and concerts for seniors. Sometimes we'd do it in their own residence, or sometimes we'd get a bus laid on to bring them in to the theatre. They used to especially enjoy
anything modern, lively or even a bit risque. They told us that they were fed up with other entertainers who would just give them cups of tea and make them sing songs about the First World War!

Seashell-
Thats great!!

I have a blast its funny you mention the WWI thing.... my seniors crack me up, the more dirt I have on an artist the better. Once I had a woman get up in the middle of my presentation because she was missing Jerry Springer!

Elly, that is great what you are doing!!!! The pillows are beautiful and I know the elderly people really appreciate it! Having had both parents in the nursing home before they died I can speak from experience....(my parents were in their late 40's when they had me, and so I lost them earlier than most people do)...they love things like this...and they love the attention...you are doing such a very, very good thing!!!!!!!! God bless you!!!!!!

Thank you very much shycat

I'm very sorry to hear about your parents....Its very hard to loose someone and I think the nursing home experience can also be very hard to go through!
