So excited I had to share!

Well at the school, well in the area in general there is a bug going around, lots of people are ill.
Well the class teacher went home sick at lunchtime, and I took the class for the afternoon (I being a teaching assistant)
Well I cant have done tooo bad with the children, because the head phoned me up this evening, the class teacher phoned her and said she wont be in tomorrow coz she is still ill (She did look dreadful today) so the head phoned me and asked if I wanted to take the class tomorrow rather than get a sub in, and the best bit I will get paid extra for it!
This is just sooooooo great, and im so excited about it! Im the youngest member of staff in the school, and im not even a qualified teacher!!! (I am doing a teaching assistant, leading to a teaching course tho) The class teacher is gonna leave some work which another member of staff who lives close to her will pick up, but it feels so great! I can proove myself to the school and im already getting teaching practice

Congrats - what an honor. Obviously they have faith in you, and what a great chance to test your skills and "show off" a bit.

That's wonderful, Zalensia!

Be careful whom you tell, however, because Pennsylvania State laws insist that a certified teacher be in the room at all times, even if a student teacher in her fourth year of college is doing the actual teaching. Of course, laws vary in different countries and states, also!

It is a great compliment to you, however, and a wonderful experience. You'll want to write yourself some thorough lesson plans. As much as I hated to write them, they really help...you know, Tape 2, second track, The Bear Went Over the Mountain, Lesson Book, page 23. It makes things go so smoothly and quickly, rather than just counting on remembering!

heheeeee.....
I have 1 daughter who is almost 4 and another who is 5....
My 5 year old glorifies her teacher. Ms. Hemple this....Ms. Hemple that.
It is really sweet....she really loves her!
When we try to explain she will have a different teacher next year..
she starts to cry....seriously starts crying.

That's great! It was a window of opportunity. I'm so happy for you and how it all turned out. Good luck on your future endeavors on teaching.
