Why is my neon tetra doing this????

My neon tetra keeps hiding out in his rock. Now it could be a she. Is that a sign it is pregnant? No other fish is bothering it. Also, does the female have a special marking on it? I know that males are smaller.

As for your fish hiding out, it is probably not a sign she is pregnant-probably she is nervous/scared...this will happen if: A, she is being picked on or chased by another fish; or B, there are not enough other neons in the tank for her to school with...tetras get VERY nervous if they are not kept in large enugh groups.

As for telling the sex..yes, the males are smaller and skinnier than the females, and also, the blue stripe is straight on males and bent on females.

Did you get that last PM I sent you with the articles and links to pages about breeding?
