End of New HP Book Given Away on Radio!*no spoilers*

Don't worry: I don't give anything away, here.

I was just listening to a local station, 99X in Atlanta, and they were talking about how a lot of fans of the Harry Potter series are in mourning because of the death of a beloved character at the end of the new book. They a guy call in and say, "I read the book, then I got to the end and just had to throw the book down because I was so upset!"

Then one of the radio announcers asked, "Why? What happens?" And another announcer interrupts with, "No, don't give anything away!"

However, the caller proceeded to give away the ending!!! Live, on the radio! With thousands of listeners tuned in on their way to work!

The station's phone lines have been lighting up like crazy since then! The announcers were saying that, due to the popularity of the series, they are probably going to have a meeting later on this morning and learn that they've lost funding from all of their sponsors because they AND their children were so upset with 99X.

Luckily, I'm not a fan of the series, but if I were--holy heck! I'm sure it would have been like finding out the end of LOTR before I finished reading it! You invest that much time into something, you expect to get to the end by YOURSELF!

Mancow did the same thing on FoxNews the other morning. So sad.

I am fortunate that I read the book and had it finished before Monday rolled around.

There was a guy that drove by a large group of people about 1am the morning the book was released and he yelled out the big part of the ending.

that's pretty funny if you ask me. 99x has been going down hill for some time and this is just the icing on the cake. i can't believe they didn't cut the caller off...oh well. 105.3 the buzz (how ever its spelled) is so much better anyway!

What I do not understand is why didn't anybody bleep it out? There is 3-5 second delay and anybody in that studio can bleep it out.

That's what I was wondering, too. I thought, "surely they tape the calls first and THEN play them!" just in case someone decides to be obscene or rude, etc. I just don't kow how it happened.

Hmm...this makes it a little clearer. Thanks for letting us know!
