I've been decorating (lots of pics warning!)

Well, Jason and I have been doing some decorating, I thought I'd share!

It started with this wall hanging:

We tried to find a comforter in a solid color we like, never did. Then we found this:

Then I made curtains:

Next I got creative. I took a tablecloth from the same line and cut out the flowers and decoupaged them onto the armoires and closet doors.

The black butterfly thing is a pair of wings I wore on Halloween. (They look cool there though!)

Some cheap shelves from Target keep our clean-line look:

I painted some old wine boxes and hung them on the walls:

Then we found these cute little tables and lamps:

A rug off eBay and some accessories finish it off:

Jason uses the plate to put his stuff in every night.

Yeah, I enjoy this....Can you tell?

I'd love too... Just wish I could afford to get away for a while, my job makes me nuts! (I hate waiting tables but it pays the bills)

I see you have fallen in love with Target's Isaac Mizrahi Home Line

Please be gentle with cleaners and such Orange dyes generally are not very lightfast.

My fiance is looking over my shoulder now . I can't discuss his expertise with archival quality of pigments. He is self-conscious . Just be careful with cleaners containing chlorides

I love your white walls. My walls are a dark dull brown. The landlord does not allow me to paint my walls. I spend lots of $$$ on electricity because it is always so dark. I hate it.

I love his stuff! I fits in so perfect for our current style taste!

The funny part is that I can't paint the walls without permission in writing, so white they are. We were going to try to get permission until we found Isaac Mizrahi's line of stuff. (I wonder what he think of me cutting up his tablecloths!) Now that we did, the white is perfect!

Yeah I've had experience working with orange and it's inexplicable ability to fade. I've had to wash this duvet cover about 6 times already. We found out that Haly will pee on the bed if Jason leaves his wet towel on it. (wet + Jason smell on bed = cat pee trigger apparently) Thankfully using the Tide Coldwater seems to be ok.

I spend I fortune on electricity too (Texas heat $$$$) I find that my thermal curtains on the back door help a lot.

If you want to brighten up your walls without painting them, take something like large panels of lightweight wood (like luan) and paint them. Lean them against the walls to break up the brown. Or you could hang tab-top curtains from hooks along a wall to soften it. (Small holes are easiest to fill in, you can get the tube of spackle at Target)
