Oh no I've ruined my sister's dog

When we went for our walk this afternoon, she "did her business".....and then she started scratching around when her hind feet, trying to cover it up.

I've had her around the cats too much already

Are you kidding, that's one of the best reasons to get a dog! They thatch your yard for you!

You could give classes teaching other people's dogs how to cover up, and then they wouldn't have to carry around plastic bags and pooper scoopers any more.

My friend's dogs all do this if she's not quick enough with the baggie.

My dog Twixie does that. I think she wishes she was KitKat, like seriously. She'll do everything he does

Penny does this. I've read that it is to "spread their scent" - a territorial thing.

My dog does it too, lol. mismodliz is right, it's a territorial thing. Dogs' ancestors (wolves) would scratch at the turf to leave their scent, since dogs have scent glands in their pads. Jake does it after his bladder has emptied during walks (and also before), lol. It's his "back up" marker, lol

Oh GOOD....it's fairly common with dogs then.

I was afraid that I was turning her into a cat!
