Question for all the cooks - Apple peelers

I desperately want an apple peeler. I don't bake much, I just want it to peel potatoes. I've looked at several ranging from the Pampered Chef one to some other brands.

Do any of you guys have apple peelers? What kind? Do you have the clamp style or the suction style? Does the clamp work better than suction?

Thanks for any advice you can lend.

What is an "apple peeler"? I usually just use a regular veggie peeler...

I don't own one, but I have used the Pampered Chef one and it worked great.

I made apple pies with my Girl Scout troop, and we found the clamp ones worked really well. They stayed put, and even the kids could operate them.

hehe -- I just use a paring knife -- peel comes off all in one piece

of course I've practiced that quite a bit

I despise peeling potatoes or apples with either a knife or veggie peeler. I've got carpal tunnell so by the time I get done my wrists and hands are killing me.

That's why I want the easy way out. I rarely cook anything that requires the apple or tater to be peeled cause the food ain't worth the pain.

We had an apple peeler until something landed on it and bent the screw end and we couldn't get it to screw/clamp shut anymore. But anyway i think they're the greatest things on the face of the earth! I would go for the clamp ones, the suction one's just don't seem all that sturdy. We had an all metal clamp one and it worked great!! I'm not sure what brand it was though..sorry! Just shop around, you'll find one you like soon enough.

good luck!!
