I think it's got more to do with the quality of the patty than anything that goes on it Give me a real homemade burger anyday over something frozen or any fast food.

Gaaaaaahhhh, making me hungry. Stop it! Well, I know what to do for lunch.

Onion bun.
Patty.
Worchestershire.
Cheese.
Grilled onions.
Grilled mushrooms.
Avocado.

Hmmm, must try your 2 patty technique, but gotta pound them thinner, then.

Superkitties, that sounds like a fine burger. The avocado is a little too California for this New Englander, though. What, no sprouts?

J/K -- couldn't resist a little West Coast jab.

Here's my favorite:

Onion roll
Patty (mix a little barbecue sauce into the meat mixture -- mmm...)
Grilled onions
Melted cheddar cheese (American is OK, too)
Shredded lettuce
Barbecue sauce

Sweet!

LMAO!! Don't forget the patty is really tofu. *GAG* (sorry, vegan friends).

Please note the distinct absence of any lettuce or such-like periphery in my burger. *Smirk*.

It is better to buy the full fat hamburger meat then the lowfat kind cuz they just lose moisture and end up dry. Buy the regular meat and drain it well and it is much tastier.

As for fave burgers....
I like to put stuff in the meat: mix up the meat with some seasonings and form 2 patties per burger, press them to about 1/4" thickness and put in your fave ingredients in the middle, spreading it out but leaving room around the edges. Put the second patty ontop and then pinch the edges together, like you would a pie crust.
My fave ingredients are:
- Feta cheese, black olives and onions.
- Blue cheese.
- Green chilis and jack cheese.
- Sauteed mushrooms and chopped peppers.

As for a basic burger, I like tomatoe, sprouts and avocado.

And these days I am a no go on the bun so whatever burger I make, I wrap in a big caesar lettcue leaf. And thank GOD for George Foreman grills!!

And you must try this: burger, cheese and peanut butter. It sounds gross but is really quite tasty - it melts and is yummy.

Oh no, you're kidding, right? **pretends to be the old lady from that Wendy's commercial** "Where's the beef?!"

OK, be smug about the lack of greens on your burger. **humph** Adding a bit of roughage makes me feel a bit less guilty about eating the burger!

Cat Whisperer...I've always gotten the low-fat meat and my burgers have NEVER been dry. Propane or Charcoal grill, hmm??

What I put in mine for 1lb of meat:

1 slice of bread, broken up
1 egg
Worchestershire sauce
Seasoned Salt
Onion
Salt & Pepper
And if you like, a bit of garlic powder

Slab on a piece of cheese and it's wonderful!

Hahaha!! Not a thing -- I'm just having fun teasing you California folks. Out here, sprouts are not used as often. Can't say I've seen a burger with 'em in these parts!
