T-mobile Rebate-scam?????-UPDATE!!!

ARGGGG
So, back in October I got a new phone from T-mobile. THere was an online rebate of $50 plus an automatic rebate for resigning my contract to make the phone free.
YOu had to pay for it, then get reimbursed when you send in the rebate stuff.
I sent in my stuff but apparently they never recieved it! I've NEVER had mail get lost. I used a return address and haven't received it back either.
I made copies of all of the information but since I no longer have the ORIGINAL barcode from the box it came in, they are sorry, but there is nothing they can do.
I ordered this phone DIRECTLY from the T-mobile site, not some 3rd party company. They KNOW they sent me the phone. They KNOW I paid for it because they sent me a bill and cashed the check when I sent in payment.
This has GOT to be a scam.

Oh I would be fuming -- I would let every person there hear about it until I got my money. Otherwise, I'd demand a refund on the phone and cancel my account.

I can't cancel my account, I just renewed my contract for 2 yrs as part of the deal of getting the new phone (and rebate). Although I did tell them that I am planning on cancelling the day my contract expires.

Jennifer, I would go to the top of the company to cancel this account, if necessary. Do you have an attorney friend who would write a letter? In the meantime, by all means call the BBB. I hate to see companies cheat their customers. As long as they get away with it, they'll continue. Grrrrr!

Yes, the BBB take care of business, I've had to contact them before.

I just called their customer service department (bypassed rebates all together).
They tried to call rebates and were getting the same run around I was. They were very nice and have credited my account the $50.
So, T-mobile has redeemed themselves!

Lessons I have learned. Whenever sending in a rebate form-get a delivery certification!!!!

Good! I'm glad they didn't get away with it!

Awesome!

And I just sent in a rebate form for Erik's phone...sigh...I have copies but not delivery confirmation. I never had any problems with rebates (we're through Verizon Wireless) so hopefully I don't have a problem.

I just got my rebate for my t-mobile two days ago and it took a little more than a month to get it. But overall I've always had great service from T-mobile. I'm glad to hear you got yours straightened out.
