WARNING!! Political & it's about "you know whooo

I found this most disturbing:

Bush wants journalists prosecuted for publishing leaks

March 5, 2006 07:18 AM / Bush Leagues .

Journalists who publish information from anonymous government sources could face prosecution under a new White House program aimed at stopping leaks about malfeasance in the Bush administration.
Writes Dan Eggen in The Washington Post:

but that's where we get most of our information.

what about the leaks that the government approves of? leaks can be used either way, look what they did to that CIA lady just because her husband spoke against a Bush policy

Um. If this is true, isn't this directly undermining the First Amendment? Yikes.

Yet, it is a valid point,

If the media tells the enemy our plans, we might as well surrender.

Without a free, unfettered press, the nation is no longer free. It's the only way the general public gets its information and accordingly votes on that information. It's the public watchdog on those politicians who would do us harm and rob us blind (I know, I know, some are already doing that, but just think how bad it would be without the press to "out" them). The kicker is that Washington is saying that they're only doing it to protect us from the terrorists (boy, has that line gotten to be really old & tiresome).

I am very sorry about my defending Bush when sometimes there is no reason to.

Sometimes it just really hits home. Some of those languages were the same words that were used against me two years ago. I feel sorry for the man.

Anyhow, I really need to get my life back together.

No harm done, Sheng. We all have our "off" days, right?

Everytime I have PMS I feel like changing to a man

Isn't there some kind of martial law everytime the nation is at war? I thought the First Amendment was curtailed during WWII.

Having known plenty of classified information myself, I don't think that's so exciting. Most classified data is actually really boring and mundane. If we declassify the data, the journalists most likely will not quote them.....so it's like a forbidden fruit......the more forbidden, the tastier The truth is not so juicy. Just two months ago 10,000 documents about 9/11 became declassified.....I haven't heard anything yet. I suspect they are quite boring.

There are plenty of news to report without using classified stuff. Most news repeat itself and sometimes I really wish to know news from Ukezbestan...can't find it anywhere. Nobody even cares about international news anymore
