Last American survivor

The last surviving American passenger of the Titanic disaster passed away yesterday....she was 99 years old.

Edit: Sorry, re-read the article...there are a couple more survivors, but they were too young at the time to remember the disaster, both only a few months old

I am obsessed with the Titanic. I always have been. When I saw the movie, I didn't speak for about ten minutes. It affected me so deeplly. I often wonder why this tragedy hits me so hard, almost personally. In addition, m y favorite hymn has always been "Nearer My God to Thee," even before I knew it was the last hymn many of the passengers would ever hear.

I, too, was very touched by the movie. They were as true to history as they could be, a lot of time and effort went into it, and they did a wonderful job.

A few years back there was an exhibit about the Titanic at a local museum and we went and saw it. I had tears in my eyes walking through there...it's just amazing sad.

Just reading that article was sad -- could you imagine losing your dad and brothers because of something so stupid? You think you're going on an amazing trip...and then tragedy strikes. That's heartbreaking.

It's difficult to think about it.

Dr. Robert D. Ballard, one of those who discovered Titanic, wanted everything left as it was, out of respect. He must be very upset that it is being shown on the Las Vagas Strip. If it's going to be displayed, it should be displayed at a museum. This is so disrespectful. I can only hope you're speaking of a museum on the Strip.
