time limit for allowing feral cats to eat

Hi! have been careing for a colony of 11 feral cats for ten years now. have TNRd all but one female. I usually leave dry food out for the cats that do not show up at feeding time but strongly believe the raccoons are getting most of the food. recently I TRAPPED A RACCOON INSTEAD OF THE FEMALE CAT. MY FRIEND FEEDS THE CATS IN TWO DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE Elks Lodge property.read about someone else having problems with raccoons. it was suggested that allowing cats one hour to feed then pick up all food dishes? does anyone have any suggests ?

That does sound like a good idea. If you stick to a definite schedule, they should all learn too show up for dinner time at the same time.
That will make it easier to keep an eye on them. It will also deter other animals, like raccoons, to hang around because of the free handout.

I have 2 feral cats that I feed. They come for breakfast(sometimes)and dinner(always). I pick up there breakfast bowls around lunch time because they wont be back until late at night.

After they leave from dinner,i pick up there bowls b/c I don't want any bugs to get into there food. I feed them on my front porch.

I've read that 20 minutes should be the feeding time. But my strays are more starved for attention than food, so my minimum stay is 1 hour.

The ferals I've seen at the shelter where I volunteer are very aggressive. The big cats try to muscle in on the smaller weaker cats. So, maybe leave the food out longer, so everyone has a chance to eat? The big boys eat their fill, then move on, there's an order...
