I did it!!!

My Little Cat is now fully raw fed! She eats all her muscle meat, all her bones and all of her organ meats. I've been giving her only chicken so far (breast, necks, though I know those aren't ideal, and livers). I get a case of Cornish Game Hens on Saturday and I was thinking about picking up some mice from the local reptile feed. I'm interested to see how she does with whole prey items.

Thanks for all the help everyone!! Couldn't have done it without this board!

Re: I did it!!!

I'm glad to hear it, sounds like you've done a great job, and it's good to hear she' not putting up a fight with eating, some cats can be really tough to switch.

Keep up the good work!

Re: I did it!!!

Congrats! It's fun adding variety. I'm always excited when I find something new for them. Jonah is still convinced (having been weaned directly to them) that mice are the ONLY real food, but he now eats other stuff, too.

Re: I did it!!!

Thanks to you both! It was a lot easier than I imagined. I'm now hoping my next kitty (whenever that will be) will be the same way. The game hens are about 2lbs each but should cut into nice pieces

Re: I did it!!!

Honestly, going raw is way harder on the HUMANS than the kitties.

Re: I did it!!!

It definitely is. But it looks like I spoke too soon. She won't eat the CGH. I don't know if it's too heavy or what. She's eating chunks of muscle meat bigger than the hen's thigh but for some reason she won't eat the hen. Any ideas how I can get her too? I fed her pork this morning because it's all I had thawed and she hadn't eaten last night either so I needed to get something in her system.

Re: I did it!!!

Offer her something else and try again later. It takes time for cats to get used to variety -- most are used to one thing (kibble) in one variety, and even if it's supposedly different "flavors" they are all very similar in consistency and taste. Raw is a whole new ballgame!
