How long will it last?

I am making non gound(but for now, but into large chunks 2") raw food, and I am putting it in large jars.

The jar holds enough to feed him for a week, will it go bad by then? I made it yesterday and he already started eating it.

He loves the raw food, I love watching him gnaw at the peices But I had to cut the liver up into small chunks, the other organs he will eat in large-er ones. It was nasty to cup up, but
I am hoping to get his jaw worked up so he can just eat it as a chunk.

He won't eat any bones, he just eats around them. Until I can get him to eat bones I am supplementing.

Re: How long will it last?

I can't imagine a cat who would eat food that had been un-frozen for much more than 36 hours. Dogs will eat anything-cats, no.

You'll be better off putting it in baggies with enough in ea. baggie for 2 meals (1 day). Freeze the baggies and put one in the (turned off) oven overnight to thaw. Feed a.m. meal, refrigerate the rest and feed in p.m.

I thaw every evening only what I will be feeding the next day.

The freezer is your friend!

I wouldn't leave the meat in the refrigerator for a whole week, I think it would go bad. I freeze my meat into daily portions, freeze it, then throw all the frozen meat into a bag. I take a chunk out in the morning to put in the fridge and feed it in the evening and then take another chunk out to put in the fridge and feed that in the morning.

Re: How long will it last?

I understand. I'm vegan AND I've had mice and rats as pets. It has not been easy for me. I pretty much take a bag and divvy 50 up at a time into baggies of 5 each (2 for Jonah, 2 for Lincoln, one for chubby Calvin). I use tongs to do this and I try not to look more than I have to. Then after I thaw one baggie I just dump into bowls and serve. Since I divvy them up 50 at a time I don't have to do it too often.
