Tripe (green tripe) okay for cats?

Hi guys,

I have a 15-year-old CRF/CKD kitty who also has high blood pressure and IBS. She has been on a fully-raw diet for over a year, and she is doing fantastically well on it. (She is also on medication for the hypertension and IBS - amlodipine and prednisolone - so her conditions are well-controlled.)

I purchase ground raw meat+bones+organs from Hare Today, which really works out well. I vary my cat's proteins quite a bit, which helps with her IBS.

I've been eyeing the meat options with tripe lately - e.g., or , and was wondering if anyone has fed their raw-fed cats tripe. I'd like to add these protein options to my rotation just to get a wider variety into my cat's diet.

I figure it probably is "safe" enough to feed green tripe to cats, but wondered if anyone has any personal stories/experiences with tripe. Is it okay for cats to eat tripe regularly/more often than as just a "treat"?

Thank you!

It is safe...if you can get them to eat it. Actually the digestive enzymes in it are really good for them.

Most dogs will eat green tripe like candy...typically cats have the same reaction people do. Lol. It is very pungent.

None of my 4 will touch it, but a friend of mine has 2 younger boys (1 year) who love the stuff. I vote try it, but either get a sample size or have a dog to donate the possible rejects to.

My cat loves it... but he's not really a good indicator... he eats Mangoes, broccoli and asparagus too!
