Chicken necks, how did you get your cat to eat it?

I bought some raw chicken necks and cut one up in small pieces. I put a piece down and one cat just looked at it, the other licked it, picked it up with one paw and looked at it as if to say "what am I suppose to do with it?".

Both cats have been on either Instinct Raw Rabbit Bites or Raw ground rabbit. I'm trying to get them interested in other foods. I'm thinking since they haven't done much chewing except for a teaspoon of kibble along with their raw that they have no clue that a neck is suppose to be gnawed on and eaten.

I've read where mashing the neck might help. Anyone else have ideas on how I can get them to try it? It's like they are used to ground soft food that they don't know what to do with something that doesn't look like what they have been eating.

y0u could powder a treat and sprinkle it on the neck piece. it hopefully will stick to it.. or FortiFlora (which I mainly use to sprinkle over food to disguise meds)

You can also smack with a mallet or hammer once and put it in their ground raw just so they can find it and maybe give it a try?

Thank you. I forgot about FortiFlora. I haven't tried it but I've heard that cats love the flavor........then again I heard that cats love Bonito flakes and wouldn't you know, I bought some and neither cat will go near it.

Update: I cut up the chicken neck into tiny pieces. One of the cats ate it, the other ignored it. At least I know one of them likes the meat, he just doesn't know how to gnaw on a large piece. I want him to work those jaws and let the bones clean his teeth. I'm hoping he'll like the taste of it enough where he is willing to dive in and really rip into a large piece. Not sure about my other little guy. He's cautious about everything, from food to the new cat tree.

I've learned that a cat that doesn't know what to do with raw, does better with the smallest pieces you can make the meat into, then slowly graduating into bigger and bigger pieces. I'm sure your one kitty will get there someday...just gotta take it slow!
