Good ideas! Will also add:
1. When putting posters around, put them up in a two mile radius!
2. If your cat has health issues, post that as well!
My personal suggestion, is to always offer an award!

"A Cat must have three different names:
An everyday family name; A particular name;
And the name but the Cat Himself Knows, and will never confess." T.S. Eliot

I'd add putting used litter outside - the familiar smell can draw them back.

Definately post flyers/posters in as many neighbours as you can and as far as you can. My Kohl went missing 7 years ago and I printed up about 200 flyers - the very last flyer I said wasn't worth putting in the last house on the corner as I said he wouldn't have gone that far - my wife insisted and I got a call the next morning that a black cat was lying injured in his shed (he wouldn't have checked if he hadn't read our flyer). I got to spend another 7 years with him after that!
