Junk e-mail

Since I joined here I am getting upwards of 50 / 55 spam e-mails daily. Can people see my e-mail address here and if so is there a way to hide it and how / where? Thanks much.

I can't see your email address. I haven't had an increase in spam since I joined so perhaps the problem comes from elsewhere.

No increase from this site for me either. My New Year's resolution was to unsubscribe from all the political and junk emails. Too late I signed up for a gmail address for all the stuff I don't want. Now I only get about 3-5 junk emails that I want to get (free shipping offers, etc.).

I don't see your email posted publicly anywhere. And we've never had anyone mention this before. You do have a link to your homepage visible. The email link on the first page of your webpage doesn't go anywhere...you might want to make sure there aren't any working links on your site.

I've been on here since December and haven't had any problems with spam.

You could contact the people (if they are businesses) and see where they got your email from.

doodlebug I have a link to my web page but there is no link on it to my e-mail even though I have an e-mail button on it. I have had that e-mail address for roughly 7 years and have never gotten spam like this until I joined here.

I haven't had any problems. All you can really do is mark all the spam email as 'junk' consistently, so that eventually it'll all go to the junk/spam folder automatically. For the super spam email (not the annoying mailing you lists you sign up for intentionally that then send like 50 emails a week) you don't want to hit unsubscribe, since apparently that just confirms you're a real person, and might make it worse.

As a Mod, I have access to your email address and I just googled it...got 14 pages of hits. So your email is out there, looks like mainly on a bunch of other forums. Any bot is capable of picking it up. Not to mention that it's a yahoo address...spammers use random generators to make up account names and then tag them with @yahoo.com or @hotmail.com etc. My yahoo account gets so many spam emails that I don't use it anymore.

Your address isn't showing affiliated with this forum. As a side test, I googled the address I use for the forum and it returned nothing.

I think your address got picked up somewhere else....

no spam since I joined here a year ago.....guess I am lucky cause with four emails, i only get the junk I asked for by being careless and it isn't that much...unsubscribing works for me for the few I asked for and now don't want. That don't help you much tho and doodle did a good job of researching for you. Be thankful for that.
