Hi From Elvis and Layla's house in Michigan!

Hello Everyone. This is my first cat forum. I am officially an empty nester this Fall so I figured I better get a hobby!

I have had many furry fellows share my life, but have a soft spot in my heart for cats. I was always a dog lover, don't get me wrong, still like them, but there is something about a cats that grabbed me 33 years ago when my girlfriend (now wife) brought me my first cat pal. It's been cats ever since.

Today, I share my life with two Tonkinese, Elvis and Layla. Elvis is too smart...it has been a challenge to keep him out of cupboards, pots on stoves, etc. He refuses to acknowledge closed doors and has figured out how to turn the door knobs. He is the son I never had!

Layla is a lovely little champaign solid Tonkinese. She is a sweatheart with a big mouth when she wants to eat or have company. What a jumper! Her favorite spot is the highest point in the house.

Well glad to be here!

I am a sortof empty nester....last of my children is in college, but here for a few weeks after doing a study abroad program spring semester. Then there's another who finished college, and is here temporarily til his job starts....

Anyway, I think we may have a (10 year old) Tonkinese. Look at my avatar and tell me what you think. My daughter rescued him in 2001 from a shelter. He is a most unusual cat. Very affectionate and personable. He used to fetch balls of wadded paper, would bring them back repeatedly. Then one day I got him to "perform" for someone and after that day he never did it again.....
Our other day is a stray who came to stay tabby. She showed up here one day at the end of the college semester wearing a little bandana kerchief thing. We live way out in the country so it's unlikely she strayed from anyone's home. I am thinking a college student went driving til they sa w a home with kids toys outside and set her out. Who knows? Anyway, she has been here for 12 years.

I'm not that great at picture taking--it seems whenever I have a camera he turns away and I get a tail instead of a face.
But here are two. One is the one I use for my avatar and the other the eyes are glowing! His eyes are actually a beautiful color but you can't really see it in these pictures

That's okay, I thought it was pretty funny, and the cats are beautiful.
