New here and grieving

Hi everyone,

I'm new here...I found this site because I just lost my 18-month old kitty today and was searching for places to help with the loss. I have always been a cat lover and have had multiple cats all my life, but Chloe was the first that was so young and that I had to make the decision to put her down. She had FIP, which is a deadly, awful disease.

I will say more about this in the Rainbow Bridge forum. Thanks for being here! I needed a friendly, listening ear tonight.

Pam

Welcome, Pam. You have my sympathy. It's so hard to lose our little friends. God bless.

18mo was too young to go. No matter how young or old the kitty, it is hard to lose them when they have a place in our heart.
I am sorry for your loss.

I am very sorry. I lost 2 cats to FIP and that was hard - they were 7 and 8 years old - but for your kitty at only 18 months. That is tough. To make that decision is the most difficult part of having a pet, I do feel for you. There is a vaccine for FIP - it isn't 100%, but after losing 2, I insisit my cats have it. What helped me through the grieving, was to at a certain time every day for a month - I have a brief rememberance time - I would look at photos - think of the good times and the bad and have a good cry. You'll need to wait longer with FIP, but after once your vet says it is okay, then do open your heart and your home to another cat. That is the best medicine.

So sorry for your loss. FIP is a terrible disease. My heart goes out to you tonight.
