Hey everyone. I'm new here. I had a Cat named"Kitty" for a long time, since 7th grade, (I"m now3 years out of college) Well, Kitty died last summer, and I thought it was about time to get a new Kitty. So my friend's cat had some kittens a while back, and I got one.
Here's my problem...I'm taking her to the vet in a couple of weeks to get her shots etc. But she came with alot of fleas! (Poor baby!)
So this is what I did, I hope it's okay for a kitten, I think she's alittle over a month old.
1. I bathed her in the sink with warm water and Dawn dish soap. I read it was safe for kittens. ( I hope it is) That's all I had, and i didn't want to give her a full on flea bath when she's still a baby.
2. I picked out the fleas afterwards with a comb and tweasers. I was very careful, poor baby stood still the entire time! It was literally, over an hour I was combing her fur and picking the fleas out.
3. I must have picked out 50 fleas by hand! Not to mention the ones that died in the bath! I couldn't beleive so many fleas could possibly be on such a small kitten, they weren't small either!
4. So here is my question...I don't think I got all of the fleas...when would it be safe to give her another bath? with the flea shampoo? without it?
