Exclamation A little food-related help?

Hello all,

I have a recently-adopted cat with some serious tummy troubles, and it turns out it's from a major food allergy. The really ironic part of that? The food he's most allergic to is the one that's present even in the hypoallergenic stuff: PEAS!

Yup, my guy has a super-high intolerance for peas, according to the allergy test. Other allergies, though not as severe, are egg, soy, rabbit, pork, lamb, turkey and barley. ... Which pretty much covers every common ingredient out there, LOL.

If any of you know a good SENIOR food that doesn't have any of those ingredients, I'd appreciate the tip. (He's also c. 8yrs old and starting to have kidney issues; the other cats in the household are x 10 and 14 yrs old.) I'm busily searching ingredient lists on PetFoodDirect.com right now.

Thanks!!

I have one that is allergic to pea's as well.

How about foods like EVO or Nature's Variety Instinct - the 95% meat ones - they have venison ones.

Or, have you considered feeding a raw diet? Allergies & Raw Food talks about feeding that to a cat with severe allergies.

Wet food is much better for cats than dry, with raw (IMHO) being better than wet food. Finding a canned food, with appropriate ingrediants, should be easier as well.

By Nature's 95% Chicken is free of all of those ingredients.
If he is having kidney issues, it is essential to get him on a 75%+ wet diet. The extra fluid will greatly help his kidney function.

Also, senior food is not necessary.
