Smile Hi Ya'll :)

I just joined but have been reading the forums for a while. I love all the information and opinions I can read here. I found this forum while researching the best foods for my kitty. My kitty, Mandy, is overweight and has some problems associated with that. She's been on Iams dry for years. I know I've been feeding her something awful now and I feel terrible!! (It's frustrating all the vets I've been to said that's a good food for her.) It's funny we never think of these things until something starts going wrong. She's been on wet food since April 27th (little over 2 wks). I'm already noticing positive changes. Mandy and I are so happy! Her favorite food is Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit. We had a little accident because she ate too fast, oops!

Here are some pics of Mandy

Hi and welcome! Mandy is a sweetheart. I chuckled at the picture of her squirrel watching. Good luck with her diet.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Forget about Iams. If I were you i'd try this:
Pet Products - Healthy Dog Food, Natural Cat Food, Gourmet Dog Biscuits ? Innova Holistic Pet Food

Nature's variety is * definitely* a leap up from Iams dry. I'm glad she's showing improvement.

She's a pretty lady, I look forward to seeing more pictures of her and hearing more stories about her.

Hi! Mandy is so pretty. I love the photo of her watching the squirrel through the glass doors. Good luck with her new diet.

Awww, thanks everyone! BryanOwnee, that looks like a wonderful food, I appreciate the suggestion. And no worries, she isn't going to taste Iams food again for the rest of her life.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Mandy is adorable kitty. How much does she weight?

I don't feed Iams to my cat Misa, but I feed her Friskies and fancy feast. Right now she has diarrhea and I'm currently feed her boiled chicken with rice and Pedialyte.

Her highest that is recorded is 13.7lbs, that was in 2009. But she was so big at one point that she wasn't cleaning herself properly and her bottom got infected. But her vet at the time didn't even suggest that her weight was the problem, he suggested a surgery to remove some of her skin off her back end around her urethra (I was very skeptical and declined). She is about 12 lbs. right now. We're taking her to a new vet this week.

From my research, I think she should be on a wet cat food only diet, one that is low carbs. Mandy doesn't have diarrhea but she has been getting sick on some of her food. I'll talk to her new vet about this.
