Hi, my name is Sarah and I joined this forum to get help with my special needs cat and ideas on blending two cat households. I look forward to being part of the community!

My two cats are Otis-fluffy, orange, puppy dog like cat with chronic upper respiratory infections and Bellina-petit, calico bob-tailed princess.

Thank you for welcoming us in!

Help with upper respiratory infections

I am wondering if anyone has any tips on helping calm the congestion from chronic upper respiratory infections in a natural way?

My cat Otis has had chronic URI for about three years now, and lately the congestion is almost constant. I have him on a acana grain-free fish diet and give him immunity supplements when it gets really bad.

I have just been using preservative free saline nasal spray and hot steamy time in the bath room but there are times when he is still so congested.

He also has these chronic coughing fits and I am wondering if anyone has had any success with any specific food, supplements or the like to cure this constant sickness.

Your help is really appreciated!

Blending two cat households-one is blind

I am looking for help and tips on blending two cat households into one with a special needs kitty being one.

The one house is two cats, male and female, that are super loving and have lived with other cats before. The male cat did show some aggression to the other female cat that he lived with previously, but none to his "sister" that he lives with now.

The other house that we will be moving into is with a female blind cat that is also super loving. She started out as a feral cat and was abused by other cats when she was young. Since she has grown more and more loving and now lives alone. However, anytime she is exposed to other cats she hisses and bats at the air. She lived with another cat before for three months and never settled down. She did move into his home and he was aggressive towards her.

This is a very small studio apartment (with a garden they can go into for the daytime) that does have a partition that we could keep them apart for a while to aid in the blending time but the goal would be to nurture them into all living together.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
