New member here;owner of 1 cat
Hello! Since I was little, my family and I have always enjoyed owning a cat more than a dog. About 8 or 9 years ago, I got my first pet at about 12. My family got a toy poodle named Hot Rod (funny name, but we didn't name him). When we got Hot Rod, we were told he was potty trained. However, when we brought him home, he started peeing on the carpet. So, about a week later, my mom took him back and I was devastated. Moving on about 6 months or so, we got our second pet, but first to stay forever. Her name was Abby and was a fairly old cat. (I don't remember the breed exactly) She was 10 years old when we got her and we were aware that she was soon to be in her final days. She was an awesome cat and honestly tried to be human. Whenever we would call her name from another room of the house, she would answer back with a loud meow. If we couldn't find her and needed to know where she was, we'd say her name and would always get an answer. She liked to try and talk to us a lot too. Anyways, at about 11 and a half, something was wrong with her thyroids and they had to be removed. After her surgery, she was back to normal for about another year, until she started peeing on furniture. Obviously, for a cat that is house broken and is 12 years old, this is not a good sign. We took her to the vet and were told she had kidney failure and would only live for about two more weeks unless we put her down. One day after school, I came home and my mom was home, which was not normal because she worked. As soon as I came in I knew what she was home for, she had put my cat down that day. For the next couple weeks I was plagued with depression and missed my kitty so much. (Makes me tear up writing this..) Skipping 2 years or so, we get the cat that I still have now. Her name is Annabelle and she is a white and gray tabby. She is either 5 or 6 (humane society did not know) and is an amazing cat. Just like my last cat, she is super chatty and can't spend a minute without being by me. She always sleeps with me and lays in my lap. She's an awesome cat and I couldn't have asked for any better.
