question about hair length

I was originally about to go on a waitlist for a Ragdoll cat which is what my children and I have wanted for quite some time. BUT today we stopped in the shelter and this little kitten laid like this on my sons lap for a good 1/2 hour. he was cuddly and very sweet. Now I am torn on what to do... I can't tell if he will be medium length in hair or short hair... wondering if I should hold out for the rag doll or just get this one? Thoughts?

OMGosh, how did you leave without taking this kitty? He's adorable!!!!!!! I do have long-haired cats, but I didn't care what their hair length would be when they were kittens, I fell in love with them and took them home.

The bond with a cat is closer if the kitten/cat chooses its owner.......I think you should get this sweet boy grey and white bicolor as he adores your son. Most shorthairs are a little fluffy when kitten, medium longhairs usually somewhat more.....it possible he could be a medium longhair. How can you resist that adorable large target on his tummy......just waiting to be kissed!

You've been chosen! You have no choice. Resistance is futile...
As far as hair length goes, he could go either way.

oh totally agree with everyone else here!!! you want a real family member - not a "trophy" kitty. this kitty obviously is in love with your son at first sight! adopt immediately! : )

We took him home! His name is Oliver and he is great There was a black cat in the cage also that is getting neutered on Wednesday and the woman said I could have him also... he is not a brother but was put with this littter so they could use the mom as his surrogate... ANOTHE question is... Would this cat that we have now be ok on its own or is it true that "its easier to have 2 than 1" They were telling me that ours would be lonely on his own and its better to have 2. Im have 2 kids that play with Oliver a ton so he gets lots of attention but he would be home alone during the day when we are at work.. Im torn on what to do...
