My name is Valerie and my cat's name is Starlett. She has quite the interesting history so I'm going to go ahead and tell you a little about her.
She came from a litter of kittens that was delivered one cold, snowy night in northern Ontario in November of 2005. The mother cat had snuck into a pickup truck and had her kittens there, under a tarp. The owners of the truck found out after they had driven to Thunder Bay (where I lived at the time) and had no idea what to do to the kittens...so the put them up for adoption. Naturally my dad, an animal lover, picked out one as a Christmas present for me!
Christmas day, five-year-old me came downstairs to find the fluffiest kitten in a filing box under the tree, sticking her tiny paws out the handles. I decided to name her Starlett, because of the lit star on the Christmas tree.
Since then, she's been by my side. We've had dogs, fish, birds and even geckos...but she's stuck around. She's actually next to me right now, slapping my hands that are making exciting sounds when I type. How helpful!
I call her my therapy cat. She seems to know when I'm upset, stressed, or anxious. She comes over and licks me or cuddles up, purring like a motorboat. :')
She's getting old now, and it's something I've come to terms with. Though she still is playful, it's not nearly as much as she used to be. She also throws up when we eats anything other than her kibble...even treats
It's hard to see her this way, but she's been there for me and I'll do the same for her.
Anyways, that's Starlett! I'll add a couple other nice pictures of her to really accentuate her cuteness c:
