10 Facts You Won't Find in Any Book on Cats

Never ever under any circumstances leave these two things unsupervised. A cat and a plate of spaghetti bolognese….. and if you do shouting only makes things worse as it takes forever to get the stains off the wall (The cat made his own arrangements)

It used to say on cat food "Cats regulate their food intake and seldom overeat"- until someone pointed out 95% of the time does not qualify as "seldom."

You do not own them, they own you. When books talk about "owning a cat" they are trying to lure people who don't have cats into getting one.

Cats understand "No!" it sets them on a decision making mode where they weigh up if what they are doing is so enjoyable they will keep doing it until you come and stop them. Or is not so enjoyable as to be worth the hassle.

If they don't want to be found, they won't be if you really must find them, you will have to feed them.

The price of kittens is eternal vigilance. A kitten has no sense of fear and a ton of curiosity even when you think you've made everything kitten proof there will be something!

The best place for a cat to regurgitate a furball is outside your bedroom door, first thing in the morning. The best time is just as you are getting up so it's wet and warm when you stand in it. (Hey! They don't want you to have cold feet)

A cat will shed hair over you before you go to an important interview. The amount is dependent on how late you are running. If you've got 10 seconds expect more hair than surely the cat has.

Whenever they can cats will embarrass you. Whether it be dropping something pungent in the litter box when you've got guests or having kittens while your partner proposes marriage or making passionate love during an important home meeting or dragging your "spicy" underwear out to show your SO's parents when they meet you for the first time. (That happened to me - the others happened to friends with cats)

You cannot win, everything including the weather is your fault. (Isis and Fugazi used to protest in the summer when it was real hot, we think they worked out when it was cold I switched on the fire and made it warm so why couldn't I switch the Sun off?)

My two always seem to wait until we have company to make sure that they leave kitty litter all around the box. (It's right beside the toilet). That way our guests usually step in it. (In their sock feet of course). 8O
