Hey all!

I have two rescue kittens, a boy and a girl, both 6 weeks old.
The boy is very attached to me. He is slightly smaller, so i think he was the runt of the motherless litter. He's very clingy and equally loving. We've been trying to wean him for some time now, but he nuzzles around my tummy looking for milk.
When he's not doing that, he sits and purrs on my lap. Sometimes he looks up and stares at me with the softest gaze and suddenly comes closer to my face! I discourage him immediately but he keeps doing that.

Does he not like being stared back at? Help me please! I love my kittens so very much.

When cats "hug" to show affection to each other, they butt their foreheads together, so when he comes up to your face butt your forehead on his and give him kisses on the top of his head. Another affection gesture cats use is to lick each others heads----cheeks, chin, behind the ears, neck.... don't recommend using your tongue :), .so instead use your fingers and wiggle them into those areas. When he stares at you, look at his eyes and give him the "slow blink" several times with your eyes, then look away. That's equivalent to a cat as saying, "I'm cool and friendly". If kitty bites your hand, say "No biiting" in firm tone,, put him down off your lap and walk away from him. Or, give him a toy or something to bite on (a plastic spoon, or some other thiing that he can't swallow). If the kittens are wrestling, biting and squealing with each other, do nol intervene, that's how they learn to control their bite and claws. Have fun with your new kittens and all the best!

He is looking at you as his surrogate mother! He LOVES you. It is very common in motherless cats who are bottle fed. They fixate on your face because that is what they see when being bottle fed. We had a bottle baby that my hubby fed and he was always closet to my hubby as he saw him as the first mommy he had when his eyes opened. He started immediately going to my husbands face and head butting him. Gently of course by touching his head to my husbands. That is the way cats say I love you to each other. We eventually taught him to do it when we would say give us a kiss and he’d jump up and touch his head to us for a treat. Don’t discourage him as long as it is not like he’s attacking your face or anything else. You should be highly honored and encourage him and be his person!
