Hi,

Greets From South Africa.

Two of my cats developed abscesses on their heads, after taking them to the vet I was told it is caused by feeding our cats too much fish. Is this true?

The two cats in question love fish and we are battling to get them to eat other foods.

Are there any herbal remedies to aid speed up healing or even help prevent these abscesses.

Thanks

Hi,
By the way I love you country, went on holiday there just recently in April.
I have never heard that it can be caused by eating too much fish, maybe try to take them off fish or even take them to another vet to get a second opinion.

Hi,

This is what the local vet said.

The "abscesses" start off as little lumps then the cats scratch them open which form weeping wounds. We did stop the cats from eting any fish and it did go away but as you can imagine a stray is sly  and will get its fish from other sources 9the neighbours cats food).
