I love Chick Lit. Bridget Jones is one of my faves. Also the Shopaholic series is pretty funny. Anything by Jasper Fforde is excellent - he has a whole series of books that I adore. If you love to read you HAVE to read Fforde

I just finished Anne Rice's Blackwood Farm which was pretty good. I loved her stories about the witches, but not so much the vampire stories but this book incorporated them both very well.

*sigh* I love to read - I could go on for days....

Now that I am out of school for a little bit I have more time to read... I used to read a novel a day, I was quite a fast reader but nowadays it takes me awhile to finish!

I love V.C. Andrews books, and does anyone have any ideas for similar books like that?? I am almost done reading all of her series...

I just got some Stephen King books at Half Price Books, they were on sale for 80 cents!!

Judy Devereaux is good too but I like V.C. Andrews more...

I tend to read various political commentary books, survival guides, and the occasional (auto)biography.

As for political commentary, I read Bill O'Reilly's work and I enjoyed Alan Colmes' book.

I used to read a lot of fiction when I was younger, but haven't read one in a long time.

I love to read--especially James Patterson. I have all of his books except for three. I like Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Sue Grafton, and so many others. I am currently reading a Tess Gerritsen book.

Has anyone read The Devil Wears Prada? I bought it awhile back, but haven't read it yet. I know it's about a woman and her horrible witch of a boss--it sounds kind of amusing. I don't normally read that type of book--usually I read suspense/murder mysteries.

Hello Hello=^..^= usually I just lurk this board until I see a topic I'm compelled to respond to. I am a big reader time permitting and my fav author is Larry McMurtry. I fell in love with his writing when I read the first sentance in Lonesome Dove. Since then I have read almost everything he has written. Now I am reading The Wandering Hill by him which has bummed me out a bit because it's the second of a series and I can't find the first. I also like Anne Rice have read the vampire series, and read a lot of Dean Koontz although I have found his books to be much too simular for my taste. As for Harry Potter, Maymariya I have had adults tell me to read the series because they enjoyed them so much. So far I have to admit I haven't but I have seen the movies and enjoyed them. I also like to read books on the English royal family and Queen Elizabeth I is my fav. subject. In short I like to read anything even a soup can when thats all I have. :p

I also am a big reader at times. Before my children were born I read everyday, now I dont have the time to get into a book all that much.

I dont really have a favorite author...I can read anything I get my hands on as long as it is a story. I read childrens books ( I just finished the Laura Engalls series last summer) and romance novels, I love a thriller or a mystery. I dont think I have really found a story book, fiction or non that I didnt like. The only stipulation is that it tells a story.

Mariya I love Harry Potter...although I havent had the time lately to get into one of those huge books. We have both movies so far and our whole family watches them together. Another movie we really love to watch together is The Lord Of The Rings Series. We have only seen the first one so far...and plan to buy all three as soon as avaliable.

I like to consider myself a reader. I've recently re-read the Harry Potter series. I love the "Earth's Children" series by Jean M. Auel. I adore horror stories, so that makes Stephen King one of my favorite authors. I read "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski and I thought that was very good. I think Sci-Fi can be a lot of fun, too. I really liked The Hitchhiker's Trilogy (which is actually five books) and Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams (RIP). I used to have this Sci-Fi short story compilation book called "Space Mail" that was my absolute favorite.

The only genres I don't care much for are Fantasy and Western, but that didn't stop me from reading The Lord of the Rings (couldn't finish The Hobbit) and plenty of books by Louis L'Amour. I used to like Anne Rice, but her writing seems very egotistical to me and I have a hard time getting through her books now.

When I was in middle school I really liked any books by R.L. Stine (Fear Street, he hadn't come out with Goosebumps yet), Christopher Pike, and Lois Duncan.

I'm currently reading The Illuminatus Trilogy.

I used to love and still like R.L. Stine and Caroline Cooney, Francine Pascal (Sweet valley), Christopher Pike, and I read almost all of the Babysitters Club series.....

I like thrillers, suspense, horror, mysteries (especially cat mysteries! ), and some fantasy and sci-fi (as long as they have a sense of humor--that's my biggest criticism of that genre--too many are strangely humorless). I love the Harry Potter series, and I'm 29! I also like Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and a great horror writer with a lot of cheeky humor--Laurell K. Hamilton. You V.C. Andrews fans will like her b/c she's also smutty ( ), but what I really like is her sense of magical reality. The books are set right now, with Starbucks and Nike shoes and Wal-Mart, regular life--but vampires, werewolves, and the supernatural are real and everyone knows it. Very cool, interesting, funny books.

I'm very proud to say that I'm not only a reader but also an amateur writer. Of course I read and write in Vietnamese. My favorite genres are knight-errant and satirization.

I am a BIG reader.... I read just about anything (although I found out I simply can not read Louis L'amour {or however that is spelled}). Some favorite authors... Stephen King, Anne Rice, Ann Maxwell/Elizabeth Lowell, Janet Dailey, etc.

I read anything from sci-fi to romance to horror... (Of course a mixture of all three would be ideal :) )

A good series to read (if you are into sci-fi, people on other planets/ almost romance) is the Dancer series by Ann Maxwell... Firedancer, Dancer's Luck, and Dancer's Illusion... Simply out-of-this-world.

Right now I am reading a book about native americans in the old west called Whisper on the Water by E.P. Murray... of course a romance :)

I spend about one hour everyday reading just for fun. It's my before-bed routine, also.

I love Fantasy the most! The series I keep up on are:

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
Harry Potter
Dragonlance - Margaret Weiss

I also read Dean Koontz faithfully, although I read 16 of his books in the last few months, and I'm a little burned out! I'm tired of the alien stories! I like it best when he sets up scenarios like in Night Chills.

Ebay is one of the best places to get books! I've really added to my collection since I started buying them online.

I love to read...it's my nice and happy quiet time. Usually I go to the libary and browse the fiction esction and just choose something that looks appealing. I'm not a big fan of buying fiction books...I know I'll never re-read them. Maybe I'm just cheap! Or maybe I'm just a minimalist.
