I was just wondering if anyone has cell phones from cingular/ATT and if you have had any good or bad experiences with them?

Anyone who has a cell that their company pays for or that they get discounted rates because their company has a contract weith ATT?

Hmm, that will depend on your location. I have Cingular service since late year 2000, and I've been satisfied with them, especially since they changed to GSM. There are markets where Cingular isn't that good, especially in NYC and California, because they share a crowded network with T-Mobile. However, even in those markets, things have improved after the merger since they've opened AT&T towers for use by Cingular customers.

hee hee I don't really know if I should put the reason I am wondering.... it is because my job is doing customer support for GSM-business customers in particular, I don't do do support for consumers. I am on the ATT side for now, but we may eventually be handling the Cingular side of things.

So I help business customers with troubleshotting and tech support, and all the little things like rate plan changes, bill payments etc at my inbound call center.

I have AT&T, my husband has Cingular, so it's good for us that they merged. The only thing we don't like though, is how much we are paying. We are both on $30 plans and we want to get on a family plan.
We were hoping that we could just add him onto my plan and share my minutes, since I have enough. However, we don't know if he could still keep his number since we moved...he wants to keep it since he has given it out to so many businesses. His contract is up in April, mine in July, so we'll figure it out soon hopefully.
I also was thinking about getting added to my mom's family plan. She just bought one for her and my brother. But I don't know if I would have to get a number from that area code or not. My other brother and sis in law also have Cingular. Oh yeah, only problems I have are getting service at my parent's house since they are in the country but I think that would be a problem with any cell phone...hopefully they will get another tower soon.
One more thing...my husband doesn't like GSM and doesn't want to be on it because he says they don't have enough towers out there for it yet...he thinks the service would be worse.

He should be able to keep his number because all wireless carriers were supposed to have implemented Telephone Number Portability, last year or the year before.

I have Cingualr and I really like the service. Not through business account but I do get a discount cause we signed up through SBC and since they're owned by the same company and I have home and mobile all on one bill, it's less.
