I was thinking about donating to the ASPCA, but then I noticed they only spend 65% of the donations on the programs. 30% goes to fund raising.

Also I wondered if the ASPCA favors killing cats when it might be possible to find them homes.

Any thoughts on ASPCA or any alternatives charities?

I'll always support local charities over national. With local rescues and shelters, you know that your money is going to the animals, not to fundraising or something.

I ONLY donate to my local no-kill shelters, where I can see the money being used and helping them.

I have two that I donate to... they're local, not chains or big organizations.

If I were you, I'd find a good local rescue or no-kill shelter that could really use the help. Monetary donations or find their wishlist's and get them food, supplies, etc. that they need.

O.k., thanks, everybody :)

There is a local charity that provides low cost spay/neuter. I think I will give them a donation.
