Hi all,

Can you give this new Mom some ideas on kitty litter? I bought Feline Pine and unfortunately I just noticed that she has some diarrhea, and the kitty litter has clumped on her rear. It's been a battle to clean it off of her, because I can't get her wet because of her just being spayed. The kitty litter is also being tracked *all* over the house. It looks like sawdust.

Thanks.

I buy 40# buckets of clumping clay litter at Sam's Club. I had been buying 'Fresh Step' but my last shopping trip they had another brand for several dollars less and I tried it. It is 'All Natural Litter Clean' and claimed 99% dust free.
Well. When I poured the bucket into the litter chest, it puffed out a cloud of dust and I thought 'what did I expect?'. However...when I went to scoop it out...it really WAS almost completely dust free!
New favorite litter.

I just switched to Arm and hammer Super Scoop and I like it. It's clumps nice and hard, does not leave dust all around the litter box and does not track as much as some other litters. plus it has not scent which was my problem with Fresh Step. There has not been much smell at all so I'm happy.

I've tried tons of litters due to my picky kitty and her pee problems...

Clay litters, the ones i tried anyways, all seem to be so dusty. When i poured it into the boxes i end up breathing it in...and it's gross. Not to mention my cats are going to be digging in it/inhaling it. I didn't like that idea.

I tried something similar to feline pine, and it works great for odor, but it wasn't a clumping litter so i wasted a lot of it. You had to dump the entire box instead of just scooping it. It was fairly cheap though.

Now I'm using swheat scoop, It clumps, controls the odors, and isn't all that dusty. Not to mention if my littlest trouble maker decides it's a snack it won't hurt him, unlike a clay clumping litter.

Swheat scoop is also fairly affordable, I like it best so far.

The best litter I've ever used from an odor and clumping perspective is Ever Clean. But it's really dusty stuff. And heavy to carry from the garage all the way upstairs. I went to Arm & Hammer High Performance for a while, but the clumps break up easily and the odor control isn't all that great. I'm using the last of the A&H in one box and have Nature's Miracle in the other. I'll be switching the second box to NM shortly. It clumps hard, barely any odor, no dust and very light. It tracks quite a bit, but I can live with that.

I like World's Best Cat litter, because its natural and biodegradable and there is nothing bad for the cats to inhale when digging. It does track, but I havent found any that dont track. It isnt heavily scented with anything but seems to control odors well naturally. Its just expensive.

I switched to Ever Clean a while ago, and like it better than the cheaper stuff I was using. I didn't think it was to dusty compared to some other stuff I've used. I read somewhere in another thread a while ago, about Precious Cat Ultra being really good, very absorbant with a very good clumping, and it's cheaper than Ever Clean. I'd love to try it, but I can't get it in my area.

I use Precious Cat Ultra mixed with Cat Attract, both by Precious Cat developed by a vet. They really are dust free AND clump well, which is unusual for clay litters. They are unscented, which is better for Gizmo, and since I scoop twice a day usually, no odor builds up. I switched from a wheat litter when I found out it is a common allergen for cats and could aggravate Giz's asthma.

The chicken feed I use clumps hard and tight. And the best part is that the clumps aren't sticky. I have several side and corner pee-ers and the clumps don't adhere at all to the litterbox.
