I don't know if this topic has been posted, but I got a bird feeder and put it just outside my window. The cat will sit there and meow like crazy watching the birds come and eat. I have a friend who got a one way mirror so that the birds couldn't see the cat and would stay longer. Just an idea.

I have always fed the birds. Now the feeder is within about 8 feet of the front window. My cats watch them constantly, and the birds don't fly away. That's because cats move more slowly than we do. The minute I move the curtain slightly, they all fly away. If I don't move, they come back, though. It's very satisfying to me, as well as the cats. :)

A one way mirror may not be a good idea, unless you want bird hitting your window. That's why they hit the window in the first place - they see the reflection and think it's open area. They'll get used to the cats if there'll always be food there.
