My girlfriend is quite concerned because her cat is biting her claws: why would she be doing this?

Cats bite their claws as part of their grooming...to get old layers of nail off as the claws get sharper. If they do this every once in a while, don't worry, but if it is persistant, it might be an infection of some sort. Also, be sure if your girlfriend clips her cat's nails herself, that she not cut into the Quick (the pink flesh inside of the nail) as this can be very painful for kitty.
