Hi, I brought my cat to the VET on Monday for urinating problems. He was partially blocked and had a catheter in for two day. They removed the catheter and he started peeing on his own. We have noticed that he is uncomfortable and we have been giving him his pain medication and a antispasmodic. He is urinating but seems to be straining or have spams. How long before this stops?

Have you contacted your vet and told them about the straining and the spasms?
I've never had a male kitty with a blockage before, but that's what I'd suggest.
Is he eating and drinking normally?

Agree with above, notify your vet. I would also discuss a new diet with your vet, one that supports urinary care. In my experience, urinary problems can be reoccurring, so it might be worth it to put him on a diet that addresses that issue. Totally up to you of course, hopefully just a once off! Best of luck.
