I used to be on this forum years ago when my male cat become poorly. Turned out he had a blocked bladder after 4 blockages we decided that we didn?t want to put him through anymore pain and we let him cross rainbow bridge; fast forward 5 years later this morning I found my 3 year old male cat laying in the cat litter box (I thought he was dead! It was awful we rushed him into the vets and before we even got seen I knew what it was. It was history repeating itself! Oreo had a block bladder and was so so poorly. They managed to do the unblocking but nearly lost him whilst he was on the operating table due to his kidneys and potassium levels being so high. The vet told us when we went in that we were very lucky he had pulled through. I?m am currently sat here at 2.50am wide awake whilst watching Oreo to make sure his okay. We have put him in a dog crate as we also have another male cat and didn?t want him to be bugged by him. He looks so sorry for himself; he is still very docile from the anesthetic. We have to take him back vets for the day tomorrow at 9am so they can give him more fluids and also empty his bladder again! Just needed to have a little vent as I?m feeling so so upset. It?s bringing back all old memories of what we went through with TJ it?s horrible! Wow well sorry for that long introduction hope I haven?t bored you all! I?m going to try and get a little bit of sleep and hopefully things go right tomorrow xx

I'm so sorry to hear about Oreo's blockage. It must be hard to sit and watch him go through this after your experience with your previous kitty. I hope this will be the end of it for him!

Is this something that a diet change might help with?

Hi sorry it’s Been a Crazy few days back and forward to the vets! He was back in for the day yesterday and today for more fluids and to have his bladder monitored and drained. Still not it the woods as he could have some damage to his kidneys we will not know until they check his levels again tomorrow! I feel like I have a baby as we’ve probably managed about 10 hours since Friday !! Yes we’re going to put him on a urinary diet which is what we did with our other cat. Thank you for replying xx

Fingers crossed that he will soon feel himself again and that there hasn't been any damage to his kidneys!

Hi Crazycatlady,
How is Oreo doing now??
Diet is important, as is keeping a healthy weight on him!
Try and keep his stress levels down, be consistent in all of his routines!

I've been through this with boy kitties too...
Never as bad as you've described, how absolutely frightening that would be...
Healing prayers for him!

Sharon
