Hi all,

My kitten is 9 months old, and tonight I noticed she has blood in her stool. When I first got her at 4 months, she was diagnosed with worms, she had to be dewormed twice, and she was checked again about 2 months ago and had no more worms. I know worms can be one sign of blood in stool, and also many other things can cause it...

But I was curious, does anyone think too much wet food could cause it also? She eats a small can of wet food a day - half in the morning, and half at night. I thought possibly it could be too much, causing her stool to be too soft and straining to get it out causing the blood? Any thoughts??

I am calling the vet first thing in the morning, but I just wanted some thoughts tonight. Thanks all.

Its good you're taking it to the vet but usually it can either be worms or some other infection. I think eating more dry food can cause the constipation or such where it would be harder to come out, soft canned food can make the stool more runnier but its also depending on what brand and quality food you're feeding. I feed my cats 1/2 can each of a 3 oz. can every morning and free feed dry food all day so I think you're fine as long as you're feeding them dry also. Good Luck with your kitty, I hope she gets better~
