Hi all :D

I am TNR'ing at an aparment complex, and a sweet little stray girl got adopted after we fixed her. She was 6 months old(approx.) and when she was fixed, she had her Rabies and FVRCP shots. She is an indoor-only cat now, but does she still need her FVRCP booster? Her last one was back in April.

Thanks
Abhay

Has she had her complete round of FCVRP? If not, I would say she needs the booster. FCVRP covers the upper respiratory viruses and distemper. Both of these can be carried in on your clothing or shoes.

If she has already had the complete first round, then you wouldn't need to vaccinate her right now. The FCVRP vaccine is good for 3 years.

Dr. Jean, do you think that booster shots at one year old are all cats will need for the rest of their lives?

I'm also wondering about yearly shots...are they necessary for indoor cats? I’ve read some info regarding over-vaccinating and the fact that the vaccine really lasts much longer than a year. Dr. Jean?
