Which calming collar would be recommended? I've decided to try one for one of my cats. She's never worn a collar. Any opinions on how that would go?

I bought the Sentry HC Good Behavior collars and it was difficult to see a difference. I used one for a month straight and Charlie seemed to scratch a lot around his neck from it? So the 2nd month I kept it on and off for about 2 weeks now it's off for good and he drags it around in his teeth>:)

Understand I used it because I wanted him to relax more (he came from a shelter and has had loose stools)- there was no specific behavioral issue. It smells good-lavender scent. Some think when it comes out the package the powder on the collar that is used for retaining the pheromones and scent IS the pheromones which is erroneous.

So overall I give it a C+ grade. Didn't hurt but do not know if it really helped. If you do buy a 3 pack from Chewy or another online dealer because a single from a pet store costs the same!

Yeah I had to be honest, if you look at reviews it seems the sprays work better but it is the kind of thing that is not across-the board overall. If I did it again I would go with sprays/diffusers and perhaps drops in the food/water.

Good Luck!

This is the one my vet swears by: NurtureCALM 24/7 Pheromone Collar 15 Inch for cats and kittens

She said she'd recommended for about 30 cats, and only one wasn't helped.

However, I couldn't get it on my cat. She's never worn a collar and is extraordinarily resistant to having anything done to her other than petting. The collar is some kind of stiff rubber, so it's not a quick slip-it-on-and-be-done process.

If you do try it, my vet also said that you can often get 2 collars out of the one, because most cats' necks aren't that wide.
