Let me reiterate my title, The Culprit isn't me it's my cat. The curious feline got out Two months back, and I only today managed to catch her. She is skin and bones, Likely due to no knowledge on how to hunt. Other than getting this silly thing a collar and tags, What is the best way to fatten her back to her original weight? I have known her to turn her nose to wet food. and even human food. While my 12 year old can never get enough of the Unsupervised Human food... or Wet food offered to her.

Note: I know it is frowned upon, but both cats are free-fed as this situation works for all my cats and they never overindulge themselves, and they have ample access to water and a litterbox.

I know it will take time and plenty of rest. Though I just want to try and get her back on her feet. She is still the lovable feline I remember.

She is spayed she just bolted out of the house due to curiosity then went missing only to turn up this month. and for me to catch her. Luckily she remembered me.

Oh, the dreaded escapee! That must have been terrifying for both of you and I'm so glad you found her!

Have you taken her to Vet for a thorough check-up since her return? If not, I'd do that asap. You could give her whatever food she likes, but wet food is most important to keep her hydrated, and you may have to try a few different kinds to get her to eat. Dry should be okay at least for a while until she's catches up a bit. You could also have her microchipped in case she decides to have another adventure.

Either way, I'd discuss all of this with your Vet so you know you're doing what's best for her right now. Good luck!

You could give her Nutrical, its a tube of a thick, calorie-heavy paste which most cats love. Goes under different names, too.

She never enjoyed wet food, I have offered it to her, In Texas, we have a store called HEB that has HIll country fare. My 12-year-old solid grey cat Loves the food. The calico/Escapee eh, Not so much. However, she is eating Friskies and indulging in treats just fine.I will try to get her some different cat food. Maybe Fancy feast, Sheba, Rachel ray, or even Meow mix.

Also, I will be taking her to the vet, I am a Veteran cat owner. Had cats for a long time, from living with a feral colony in my back yard. to owning my own cats. I know what to look for. The oldest cat I ever owned is my 12-year-old, my other cats died too young. none by my fault. Mother and I are looking at cat collars for all the cats in the house. Save for one who has one. and Tags. and when we take her to the vet I will be asking them to scan her for a chip before chipping her.

Otherwise. I looked her over today, Some mucus in her eyes that is nothing terrible just typical cat-eye gunk. a bit of dirt in her ears. no fleas shockingly, no scrapes or bruises.and her teeth look great. Gums are pink. She has access to hard food. and Clean water. and my bed. She has energy to move around otherwise is mostly just eating, sleeping and drinking. though she is doing well.

So Update, We offered Wet cat food, 9lives which I know cheap brand. but I digress. Other than having to give some to the 12-year-old so she will not look at me like I just committed the biggest crime in the universe. the Calico is eating it. It seems she is more partial to Patte rather than anything drenched in gravy. Which I can understand. I will be trying to offer her other brands in the future. She also has more energy and is playing again. Still skinny, however, you can't expect a miracle in such a short amount of time.

She gets half a can in the morning, and it can last her all day, she also alternates between the wet food and her hard food. I was worried she was not using the litter box, however I am glad to say she is using it. and Back to using her Cat tower lie she never was gone. Things are looking up.

We do plan to get her and my other cat, a cat collar, tags, and a vet visit. all animals in the house are due for a visit, and Vaccines. we also plan to have her checked for a microchip, if she does not have one, she will be getting one.
