Okay, ever since reading about canned food, I have been trying to convince people I know to at least feed dry+canned. A friend of mine says that canned food makes too much of a mess(runny poo) in the litter box.

My question for you is, does the mess go away once the cats digestive system gets used to canned food every day?

Thanks :D

Yes, it should. My cats never have runny poo from wet food. I think this is more of a problem when a cat is occassionally offered a large amount of wet food when its body is not used to it....sudden diet changes often lead to digestive upset whether the food offered is canned or dry. When canned food is fed frequently and consistantly this should not be a problem unless the cat does'nt tolerate the particular brand or flavor being offered.
To avoid digestive upsets in cats that are only used to dry food, small amounts of canned food should slowly be introduced. Starting with a teaspoon daily and gradully working your way up would probably help avoid digestive upsets.

Serve the food in seperate bowls. I learned this the hard way....

Mixing can foster bacteria, leading to poo everywhere.
