Hi there! We found buddy a few weeks ago and he had been dumped! He doesn't seem like a regular cat as he has a very different tail and fur. We think he could be a Maine coon. Could anybody help me? Thanks

Without any registration papers in a reputable cat assoc., such as CFA=Cat Fanciers' Assoc. or TICA=The International Cat Assoc. (there are a few others as well). He is a Domestic Longhair=DLH. The white hairs throughout his coat are somewhat unusual. If you blow into his coat, and he has about quarter inch white roots on all his hairs next to his skin, his color would be black smoke. These kittens often have some "ghost tabby markings" which they usually growth out of when the adult coat comes in. Black smokes are a fairly rare color and connected to the silver tabby gene. It's possible he may end up being a silver classic tabby color, but doesn't really have distinct barring on his legs Both patterns have beautiful coats when fully grown in. Anyway, he is very cute has an alert and lovely inquisitive expression. Lucky you!

Yes, domestic longhair. We had a pair for 15 (her) and 18 (him) years. They came from a "free to good home" ad and were most likely Persian mixes despite looking like Maine Coons at a glance.
