I brought my cat in for a teeth cleaning and examine. She is 6-7 years old and we adopted her about 8 months ago We knew she had bad teeth after her first vet examined so some extractions were expected . She is always a happy cat, but would react if you touched her mouth.

The doctor said she was missing some teeth and the rest of her teeth were in bad shape. I know she was missing her bottom canines. He also said that a few of the teeth had a chance of surviving, but they didn't have the opposite teeth to bite against so he thought it was best to remove them all.

Has anyone else had a cat this young that needed all their teeth removed?

I've never met a cat with no teeth, but I have met a dog who needed all of his taken out. He adjusted very well to having no teeth, even beginning to eat hard food again. I think he was about 10 when they removed the last of his teeth, and he lived to be 15 or so (he passed on from a totally unrelated issue).

I think we have members here whose cats have had all their teeth removed. I **think** Heidi has one. They do just fine. Cinderella has bad teeth. She had four teeth removed at her first cleaning, but they were the tiny ones down in front. I was told she may have to have a couple more removed last time, but they got in there and they were okay, for now.
