We just got our cat back from the hospital with a bad bout of feline triad syndrome. She's 13 years old, and out of the woods and feeling better now. But the strange thing is, whenever she gets up to go to the spare 1/2 bath where the litter boxes are, she completely bypasses the boxes and goes to an area of the floor and starts licking.

Even after feeding and drinking plenty of water. Even after sweeping and cleaning the floor free of any dust. They've been using Litter Pearls for months now with no problem. We asked the vet if there was something off in her diet now, and the explaination was that it's just a behavior exhibited. Yes, but a behavior stemming from what?

I had a similar problem with an older female cat that use to lick the basement wall. It only stopped when we moved. I have no idea why she did it, and never could get her to quit it.

Cat licking linoleum

I believe that genuine linoneum is actually made from linseed oil.
I wonder if there's anything in that that your cat likes/needs?
