My kitten in 4-5 months old( i adopter her when she was 2 months old)
She is very selective in eating. Eats only Eggs( raw, cooked) and Milk Products(milk, cream, cheese, cottage cheese) and nothing else.
I tried feeding her wet and dry meat( different kind, fish , chicken, different brand) but she is not interested, i tried this many times in past few months.
i Observed her weight is not increasing from last 20-25 days( she is very active though)

Please suggest some way i can make her eat meat( she tries to catch pigeons and rats, but never caught one).

Hi there,
The thing is that eggs and dairy products are not even close to being a complete or healthy diet for a cat. Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning that they have to eat meat protein in order to be healthy. So it is important that you get her on to a good diet as soon as possible.

I think your first step should be to the vet to have her checked out thoroughly in case there is a medical issue. And tell the vet what has been going on and ask their advice on food. One way or another you have to get her eating some meat every day.

One thing that comes to mind is to mix the meat in tiny little pieces into the food that she is eating, and if she will eat that then very, very slowly increase the amount of meat. The amount of dairy products needs to be cut down drastically in the process. These are really not good for her and can cause stomach and intestinal issues in most cats.

Is she an indoor-outdoor cat? If so, I would suggest that you keep her indoors if you can because then you will know what she is eating and can control it. It is possible she is getting food from somewhere else if she is outside. If you keep her in you can regulate what she eats while you get her onto a good diet.

Cats are not moody or dumb. But being able to eat whatever she likes has made her a little spoiled and switching food is going to take some time. I had the same problem with Cinderella. When I adopted her, she was only eating Chicken of the Sea tuna.

I agree with Marie. Your cat is neither moody nor dumb. The truth is, you have been trying to be as nice as possible to her, which is great, but actually what has happened is that you have inadvertently spoiled her by feeding her only dairy products and now that is all she wants to eat.
The problem is this diet is terrible for her health.

Try buying canned cat food like Fancy Feast if you can get it there. (available online too). It's not the very best cat food by any means but cats love it, and if you start small you can get her transitioned over to it.

Feeding any kind of canned cat food that has mostly meat in it is a far better diet than the dairy products, which will not allow her to stay healthy or to live a full life. It may in fact be the reason she is not gaining weight as she should. Cats have to have meat to gain weight and be strong. If they don't get it, they will fail to thrive, and that is what is happening.

I think you will have success if you very slowly mix in the canned food until it is the majority of her food. let us know how it goes, and good luck!

It was the only option with my, when i got her she was in terrible health condition and i gave her everything i could get from pet store( even canned meat) but she ate only milk and eggs
But as per you advise I added meat chunks in her eggs, she hesitated but ate them today, will try this for few days and see the results.

Really happy to hear that this may be turning around for you. Good job, both you and the cat. :) I do still recommend very highly that you look into cat nutrition (lots of stuff on that on the internet) so that you understand all the things cats need in their food, like taurine and the right amount of calcium, and so on. these things have to be present in the right proportions in order for the food to sustain health in the cat.

Of course for now you are just getting her off the dairy diet, but once she is eating some meat regularly, it would be best to transition her to a good balanced canned cat food. Wet is much better than dry for cats, as they tend not to drink enough water and the canned food gives them the moisture they need.
Let us know how it goes!

Great update!

Taurine, an amino acid found in body tissues, is important for healthy maintenance of your pet's heart, retina, bile and some aspects of reproduction. It is essential this amino acid is present and balanced in food fed to felines. Cats cannot manufacture their own taurine and need to eat meat to obtain it. Without taurine, they may experience heart and respiratory problems, as well as blindness
As for the cost, you may want to check out chewy.com or Amazon. Not sure if either will ship to your address, though

As Elliemae says, dog food is not the right thing to give to a cat. There are big differences, and the nutritional needs of cats are quite different from that of dogs. Feeding dog food will leave your cat without essential nutrients the cat needs to be healthy, so please feed only wet cat food.

This forum is a good resource, so please feel free to ask questions here when you have them. Not only are there some people here with a lot of cat experience and knowledge, but also it is helpful to get different people's experiences with things, what they tried that worked for them, and so on.

first of all I wouldn't give her raw eggs or any kind of dairy, the main culprit is milk's lactose, which many cats have trouble digesting. The result: diarrhea or stomach upset. Get some Temptations treats, give her a few so she gets the taste and see if she likes them. If she likes them she's going to want them all the time they are very addictive. Then when she won't eat any kind of meat put some of the treats next to the food on her dish and see what she does. My older cat will not eat unless there's a couple treats on the dish. Remember cats are meat eaters, they absolutely require meat for their biological health and well-being and cannot be transitioned to a plant-only diet or in your case eggs and milk products. If you still not eat any meat I would take her to the vet maybe the vet can give you something to make her eat. When my cat refuses to eat anything the vet gave me some cream that I rub on his ear make some very hungry.
