We got a cat last weekend and he is about 9 months old. He uses his litterbox most of the time but at least once a day he goes the bathroom in a corner of our den (which is about 15 feet from the bathroom his litterbox is in). Any suggestions on stopping this behavior would be greatly appreciated.

There are a few reasons why your kitty might have stopped going to the bathroom in the litter box. You might consider taking your kitty to the vet just to get him checked out. Sometimes cats urinate outside the litter box because of medical reasons such as urinary tract infections, bladder stones, or diarrhea. Have you recently changed your litter type or the location of the litter box? This can also be a factor. Also, stress can cause your cat to use the bathroom somewhere else such as if there’s a new family member or pet. You could try puting your cat and his litter box in a small room for a short while just until he gets the hang of using the litter box again. Hope this helped. If you have anymore questions about this, ask :)
