Today a stray cat rubbed against my leg_had jeans on; when I came home my cat sniffed my leg and licked it. Why? Obviously it was a strong smell she detected because her mouth was open (to capture it better) but why would she have licked it? :?: Thank-you!

Thanks Annissa!..as you know cats open their mouth when they smell but some also use their taste buds to get a better sense of what they are smelling..same as we identify a color with food they 'see' better a smell if they taste it.

That's not SOOO off from humans... taste and smell are very interconnected. Obviuosly our sense of smell isn't up to snuff to that of a cat, but it's the same basic principle :)
